Mt Newman - iron ore country

My mate used to work at Newman. He operated one of the huge excavators that fill these dumptrucks.

This picture shows one of the trucks, parked in front of the tourist office at Newman. That's my wife standing next to it, this picture has elevated her standing with our 2 1/2 yr old son. Being already a truck/train/etc nerd, seeing mum next to the 'big truck' has given her a new status with him.

When you drive through Newman you can see trayback cruisers and other mine vehicles with these really tall poles on the roof with an amber warning light at the top - that light is at eye level with the driver of the Haulpak, so he doesn't accidently drive over them...
